KALISPELL – On the high school basketball court, one Kalispell team is shooting for a good cause over the next month. The KPAX Youth Sports Spotlight shines on a new goal for the Glacier Wolfpack.
The boys team will participate in the “Coaches versus Cancer 3-point challenge” in January. The players will take pledges for a certain amount of money donated to cancer research for every 3-pointer the varsity team makes.
The Wolfpack are excited about helping a good cause, while also adding some new motivation to show off their shooting skills.
“They are excited about it,” said Glacier assistant coach Ben Cutler. “We’ve got some good 3-point shooters on the team, so I feel like they want to make even more 3s now. So yeah, they are excited about it.”
“The whole team was very surprised and excited,” said guard Bret Michaels about the challenge. “We’re shooting about 40 percent this year, so everyone’s really excited. Kind of adds a little bit of a competitive edge. Kind of want to make as many 3s as possible. We have a couple guys that have been impacted by cancer, their family and relatives, and we just want to help out as much as we can.”
Glacier will start the campaign when they host Post Falls, Idaho this Friday night.
